Polish Party - Gradient

Its time for another Polish Party (info in my About Me section) and this months theme, chosen by the group, is gradient.

Now I recently posted a gradient so for this one I decided that I had to step it up a notch from the plan old gradient with glitter I do frequently, to this mani I created using a few easy to find objects.

I started off painting my nails with my favourite Rimmel London Nail Nurse base.

Then I did a single coat of Models Own Hypergel - White Light to create a blank canvas for me to work on.

Recently in Superdrug there was a deal where if you spent £4 or £5 on Collection products you received free Mardi Gras Lip Balm, and this is the nail polish I purchase to reach to total amount. So I took this polish and started creating a gradient using my good old pound world sponges (look at Business nails for a tutorial). This polish is called Baby Blue.

Then after peeling off the PVA from around my nails (explained in Business Nails) I cleaned up any remaining rough edges and topped with my Seche Vite.

I then went on the hunt for a black pen and came across a simple black gel pen, and I began working on an aztec design. Now these nails are slightly inspired by a few manis I found on Pintrest and if I can find any of them again then I will leave links here and here.

I basically just made squiggles and lines wherever I felt like it!

I then topped the nails off with another coat of Seche Vite to lock the design in (a very thin coat) and another very thin coat of Rimmel London Ultra Shine.

I love how this mani turned out, even though unfortunately the pen marks have slightly cracked underneath the topcoats but you can't see that unless you look super closely!

Do you have any tips for me on how to stop the cracking? Have I inspired you to create a mani? Tag @kimberlina94 on instagram and don't forget to follow me on there an on Facebook.

Peace.

  1. This gradient is flawless! I love Baby Blue - it's such a pretty colour! The nail art you've added on top is so detailed too! :) Whenever I use my Barry M nail art pens the design always cracks but when I add a topcoat it's fine - I used No7 Stay Perfect Topcoat. Maybe it's your topcoat? :)

  3. These are awesome! The gradient looks so good and the print on top is just perfect! It's not too busy, but also doesn't really have spots that seem too empty, if you know what I mean! This one will gon on my "to recreate" list :)
